LIFT
Created and funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, JC
PROJECT LIFT is based on the successful Graduation Approach used
in rural settings overseas, but localised to a targeted model to
address the challenges of poverty in the modern urban environment
as the
Urban Graduation Approach (UGA).
the drive and creativity of Hong Kong as a regional philanthropic
centre, JC PROJECT LIFT will provide comprehensive assistance to
families in transitional housing.
To help families break out of the poverty trap it focuses on
enhancing seven family capabilities and developing sustainable
livelihoods. It empowers families financially through a savings
plan with preferential high interest rates and through initiatives
to improve employment aspirations and prospects. Just as
importantly it seeks to build confidence and self-esteem,
encouraging families to expand their social circle and to engage
with the wider community. With the support by the HKSAR Government
Housing Bureau and Labour and Welfare Bureau, the project aims to
benefit over 14,000 families living in 25 transitional housing
sites across 11 districts.
